Women everywhere are realizing that there is more to their sexuality than they have been conditioned to believe by their culture. I have come to see this in working with thousands of women across the world – that we have some deep, inherent intuition that our sexuality is a profound gateway to living as the feminine in this world.
In our culture’s stereotype of the sexually alive woman, she is dripping with desire and ready to have sex on tap. But this is not who the true feminine is. Her sexuality is a profound gateway. To enter her sexually, is to come through the veils into the inner temple of love. No one who enters there is left unchanged. One of the most potent ways to heal sexual wounds is to turn towards sexual intimacy – not away from it – and to come into right relationship with it. Ok, so we know that sex as we do it in our culture is not quite it. Perhaps you and I are some of the lucky ones who have gone beyond the culture and learnt a few techniques to improve our sex lives. But even our increased sexual gymnastics does not leave us fulfilled. We might even have gotten some Tantra lessons and learnt to stare into each other’s eyes for uncomfortably long periods of time. And yes, that’s kinda sweet – but yet nothing has fundamentally changed yet.
On June 13th 2014, Aaron Swanson asked me to marry him – and I said YES.
Now I know getting married is not a very conventional thing for a Tantrika to do. And that there is a perception in the Western Tantra world that Tantra is not for committed couples.
I find myself in a very awkward and unknown – I would even say, embarrassing – place in my life. In my life (indeed, lifetimes) as a Tantrika, my focus has been opening with unconditional love, and with a full YES, to all of life’s experience, with deep, unreserved embodiment.
In our collective psyches the dream of finding the Soulmate moves strongly – that ‘other’ who will meet and fulfill me completely. There is a real soulmate for each one of us. But that person is inside.
Unconsciousness is the semi dream-state that most people on this planet live in. The unconscious is a realm in our awareness that gets shaped by fears and desires that we have suppressed or avoided feeling fully and deeply.
